Why Buy One of Our T-Shirts?
As Native people indigenous to this Western Hemisphere, we had no words for “illegals”, “immigrants” or “hate.” We simply knew ourselves as “The People.” These foreign are used by the oppressor to brainwash, divide and conquer us. This is done in order to enslave us and steal our natural resources, by keeping us from knowing our true history and self-worth.
Our people have traveled and migrated across this continent since time immemorial, trading with one another, sharing abundance, knowledge and traditions for thousands of centuries.
We respected Mother Earth and honored her with ceremony. We loved and nurtured the sacred elements that give us life: land, water, plants and animals. We loved and respected each other. Many of our communities lived in harmony with one another for so long, that complex language dialects evolved even among villages that lived less than 50 miles from each other. We had our own universities, governments, and medicine people that cared for the ill and healed our spirits. Homelessness, orphans, starvation and poverty did not exist. This was before Columbus stepped foot on this continent.
It is these customs, cultural values and sacred traditions that some of us still honor and agree to live by. In a world where propaganda plays an important part in knowledge sharing, we choose to express these messages not only by living as such, but also by sharing these messages to others by the clothes we wear, or the posters and stickers we display.
So proudly wear one of our shirts or hats! The funds from these sales support Occeeneechee Village and future self-sustainable Tribal economic systems. We have the knowledge and capacity to teach our own children in the ways of our ancestors. We just need the funds to build our foundation on. Support a new vision for a better way of life! Put up a poster or sticker to enlighten and ignite that internal fire that burns within all of humanity. Unity! Because regardless if we are Native to Alaska or South America, we are all from Turtle Island. One continent, one people, one land. Without Borders! Somos Los Mismos!
